Brief History

GOLDS took on a long-term lease of Goldfield Playing Fields and the associated changing rooms in 2021. Despite the Council’s best efforts, limited resources meant the facility required urgent upgrades to both the pitches and changing room facilities. The changing rooms, built in the mid-1980s, were no longer suitable for the needs of a modern sports facility.

During the first 12 months of ownership, the clubhouse underwent extensive refurbishment, with over £250,000 invested. Improvements included the upgrade and segregation of changing rooms to provide dedicated facilities for both male and female players in home and away changing areas. Additionally, the creation of the HUB and Bar facility now offers hot and cold drinks and serves as a venue for social events.

the revenue generated from the HUB allowed GOLDS to reinvest in the maintenance and improvement of the playing surfaces over the following years.
